What is your non-profit status?
We are a 501(c)3 charitable organization. All donations are tax deductible.
Who does the Foster Closet serve?
We currently serve foster children in southern IL, kinship placements, safe family program participants, "at risk" families when identified by DCFS, law enforcement, school administration, doctor or clergy.
Proof is required to shop (foster parent contract, subsidy reimbursement, custody papers, or referral for those at risk) All items are free.

What are store hours?
We do not have set hours due to a small volunteer staff. Please use the appointment page to make a shopping or donation drop off appointment.

What can I shop for?
Shoppers are eligible to receive up to 10 outfits per child per quarter, plus additional items like backpacks, formula, shoes, socks, underwear, etc. New placements are eligible to receive more. When you sign in at the store, a guide will be handed out with additional information.
What do you mean by "gently used?"
Please, only donate items that are new, unused, or “gently used,” which means items that are in good condition, clean, and presentable.
